Request Care Community Support

Thank you for opening your home to serve vulnerable children!

We would welcome the opportunity to build a care community around your family. Please be aware that there are often more families in need than available care communities to fill those needs.

Care Community volunteers typically live within 20 minutes of the family being served. Because we are relying on volunteers who are close to your home it can take some time for us to coordinate a team, so please be patient as we work to serve your family.

We are honored to serve these amazing families serving in the hard places whenever possible.

If you are requesting a care community on behalf of a family in need, then please respect their privacy by using the refer a family page here.

Agreement

This agreement must be signed by families who desire the support of a Care Community.

A Care Community is a team of approximately 4-8 committed volunteers who will be equipped to serve your family for a year, providing support in a variety of areas such as meals, childcare, prayer, encouragement, yard work and/or light housekeeping as they are able and available.

Your commitment includes agreeing to a weekly 5 to 10-minute phone call from the Team Leader to discuss prayer requests and any needs that arise. This weekly call is key to the success of the Care Community, as is your attendance at the kickoff Meet & Greet event.

We pray this support is beneficial to your family and helps you continue to welcome children into your home. Expressing your gratitude to volunteers with a verbal thank you or a quick text really encourages them in their service to you. If there are any concerns, please direct them to either the Team Leader or Advocate at your church.

Care Community volunteers serve solely at your discretion. It is your responsibility to decide if you want them to serve.

Volunteers offer two basic levels of support:

  1. Supervised Assistance: These volunteers support your family through bringing meals, doing light yard work or other small chores that do not involve unsupervised contact with the children in your home. They serve solely at your discretion under Reasonable and Prudent Parenting Standards (RPPS).
  2. Unsupervised Assistance: These volunteers can have contact with the children in your care through roles such as babysitters or transporters where you as the parent may not be directly present. If you have a prior relationship with them, they must be properly informed about the children in your care, state disciplinary practices, and be discerning caregivers for those particular children. If you do not have a prior relationship with them, it is your responsibility and decision about which role(s) they can fulfill.

I understand my responsibilities as a parent, and I allow for a Care Community to serve my family and the children in my care. I have read and am familiar with Reasonable and Prudent Parenting Standards.
